How well do we really know those closest to us? It is the question that strikes Lucy, a celebrated pianist, when the police raid her home one morning. Officers seize every document and computer in the house and take her husband into custody. Lucy is bewildered, angry and hurt; she feels helpless, powerless and deceived. Faced with the terrible accusation against her husband, will she have to protect her children? Marie Kreutzer, whose Corsage (2022) portrayed a woman trapped by rigid rules, now paints an emotional portrait of a mother crushed by a pressure love cannot ease, forced to weigh a horrifying possibility against loyalty and silence. Shot on 16mm and 35mm, the film competed for the Palme d'Or at its Cannes premiere and drew praise above all for Léa Seydoux's extraordinary performance as Lucy.
